The holidays are a wonderful time to get everyone together. Whether it's family visiting from out of town, friends home for the season, or coworkers celebrating the end of another year, finding something everyone will enjoy can be part of the adventure.
At Mastermind Room Escape, Christmas is one of our favorite times of year! Our holiday escape rooms bring people together for an hour of puzzles, surprises, laughter, and a little friendly competition. And with four different Christmas escape rooms in St. Charles this year, there's plenty of fun to go around.
New for 2026, we're introducing Christmas Vacation! It joins three returning favorites: Home Alone, Elf Escape, and Save the Mean One. All four rooms open for the season November 1, and reservations are available now.
We're also bringing some of the holiday fun to downtown St. Louis with a limited seasonal pop-up.
Whether you're planning a family holiday outing, looking for things to do in St. Louis or St. Charles during Christmas, or organizing a company holiday party, here's what you can look forward to this season.
Meet Our Newest Christmas Escape Room: Christmas Vacation!
If you've ever spent an afternoon untangling Christmas lights, trying to figure out which bulb went out, or watching a family member go a little overboard with holiday decorating, this one's for you.
Clark has big plans. He's determined to create the greatest Christmas light display the neighborhood has ever seen. He's spent hours checking bulbs, untangling cords, and stapling thousands of lights to the house. He's even risked life and limb getting everything just right.
But there's a problem. The electrical system and switches in the house aren't cooperating, and all those lights are still dark.
That's where your group comes in.
You'll have 60 minutes to work your way through the holiday chaos, solve puzzles, get the electrical system ready, and figure out which switches will finally bring Clark's spectacular Christmas display to life.
Christmas Vacation is designed to be fun for the whole family, with plenty of playful nods to the holiday movie that inspired it. You don't need to know the movie to enjoy the room, but those who do will appreciate the little details along the way.
The room is designed for 10 players, with space for up to 12 if you're bringing a larger family or group. It's a medium-difficulty adventure, so everyone can get involved, whether they've played escape rooms before or are trying one for the first time.
And yes, everyone in the family is welcome to play the escape room. Sometimes the person who spots the most important clue is the one nobody expected!
Christmas Vacation opens November 1, 2026, in St. Charles.
Three More Christmas Escape Rooms to Enjoy
Our returning Christmas escape rooms each have their own story, puzzles, and holiday personality. Whether your family loves a challenge, enjoys a little silliness, or simply wants to do something different together, there's a room for you.
Home Alone: Protect the House!
It's Christmas Eve, you've been left home alone, and the robbers are on their way.
You've set your traps, but now you need to access the phone security system and call for help before the thieves arrive. Your group will need to think quickly, work together, and keep an eye out for clues to save the day.
Home Alone is a medium-to-advanced escape room, making it a fun choice for families with teenagers, groups of adults, and anyone who enjoys a good puzzle challenge.
It's also a great way to settle the annual family debate about who's the best problem-solver!
Available in St. Charles and at our downtown St. Louis holiday pop-up.

With easy-to-medium difficulty, Save the Mean One is a fun choice for families with kids, beginners, and groups looking for a lighthearted holiday challenge.
Available in St. Charles.
Which Christmas Escape Room Should You Play?
All four Christmas escape rooms are family-friendly, not scary, and designed for groups to enjoy together. Here's a quick comparison to help you choose.
- Christmas Vacation is a medium difficult escape room. It's best for families with all ages, multigenerational groups, and holiday movie fans.
- Home Alone is a medium to advanced difficultly escape room. It's great for families with teens, adults, and experienced puzzle-solvers.
- Elf Escape is a medium difficultly escape room. It's ideal for families with younger kids, people trying an escape room for the first time and Christmas enthusiasts.
- Save the Mean One is an easy to medium difficulty escape room. Younger families and groups who enjoy playful challenges should choose this room.
If you've played one of our Christmas rooms before, there's always another adventure to try. Some families make an escape room part of their holiday traditions, while others enjoy playing several different rooms throughout the season.
Each game is a different experience, so there's no need to stop at just one.
A Holiday Activity the Whole Family Can Enjoy Together
One of our favorite things about the Christmas season is seeing so many different generations playing together.
Escape rooms have a way of bringing out something fun in everyone. Kids are often terrific at spotting hidden clues. Teenagers love figuring out how things work. Adults get caught up in solving the puzzles. And grandparents sometimes surprise the whole group with an observation everyone else missed.
Nobody has to be an expert, and everyone can contribute in their own way.
Unlike activities where everyone is watching something happen, an escape room puts your family right in the middle of the story. You're working toward a common goal, sharing ideas, and celebrating those little moments when a puzzle finally makes sense.
It's also a wonderful option when relatives are visiting for the holidays and you're looking for something to do together outside the house.
All of our escape rooms are private, so when you book a room, it's just your group playing. You won't be paired with strangers.
Our Game Masters explain everything before the game begins and are available to help along the way. Whether you're bringing children, grandparents, or a mix of experienced players and first-timers, we'll help you get comfortable before the clock starts.
And don't worry if you don't solve every puzzle. The fun is in the experience!
"Took my 6 grandkids (ages ranging from 6 to 23) to do the Save the Mean One escape room. The 2 oldest had been to an escape room before but still found the room challenging. The other 4 did a great job finding the clues. The 6 year old got so excited when he unlocked something. We all had a great time & our room host was so helpful!" - T, from St. Charles (Google Review)
A Different Kind of Company Holiday Party or Group Outing
Christmas escape rooms aren't just for families. They're also a fun way for coworkers, friends, clubs, and other groups to celebrate the season together.
If you're planning a company holiday party or team building event in St. Louis or St. Charles, an escape room gives everyone a chance to do something together rather than simply gathering for another meal.
You'll see colleagues working together in different ways, sharing ideas, solving problems, and having a few laughs along the way. It's a relaxed, enjoyable team-building activity that doesn't feel like another day at work.
Small Groups of 12 or Fewer
If your group has 12 or fewer people and simply wants to play an escape room, you can book online.
Choose the Christmas room that fits your group size, select your date and time, and reserve your private experience. Most of our holiday rooms accommodate up to 10 players, while Christmas Vacation can accommodate up to 12.
Larger Groups, Multiple Rooms, and Holiday Parties With Food
Our St. Charles location is also a great option for larger holiday gatherings.
If you're organizing a company party, bringing several departments together, or planning an outing for an extended family or organization, we can help coordinate multiple escape rooms.
We also have options for groups interested in using our conference room or including food as part of their holiday gathering.
For conference room reservations, food arrangements, or coordinated multi-room events, please contact Mastermind Room Escape directly. Our team can discuss your group size, available dates, and what you'd like to include.
It's a fun way to celebrate the season, especially for groups looking for something a little different from the usual holiday party.

Children ages 6 and older need a paid ticket. Players age 16 and younger must have an adult age 18 or older in the room.

Yes. Every room is reserved exclusively for your group, so you'll never be playing with strangers.
There is a minimum initial ticket purchase requirement for each private room, which varies depending on the date.
How much do Christmas escape rooms cost?
Our holiday escape rooms are generally $38.99 per person, with special Super Saver pricing available on select dates in St. Charles.
Because all rooms are private, a minimum initial purchase is required to reserve a room. The minimum varies by day and is higher during peak holiday periods. Some dates require the purchase of four tickets, while others require five, six, or more, even if fewer people will be playing.
You can see the minimum purchase requirements for your preferred date on our Holiday Pricing Calendar.
