The 2020 Christmas Season is upon us and we're super excited to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and all the holidays in between. We've tried many activities that celebrate Christmas over the years with family and friends. Our favorite tradition is playing a Christmas escape room. This year, we're hoping to do the same and we are wondering, what's open for Christmas this year?
We've researched and here's what we know so far about what's open for the Christmas 2020 season.
Christmas Escape Rooms at Mastermind Room Escape
Our favorite Christmas tradition - Christmas Escape Rooms! Specially, you can play the Elf Escape and Home Alone rooms for your Christmas escape room experience in 2020.
Mastermind Room Escape has the top fan-rated Christmas escape rooms in the area. Things will look a little different this year. There is extra cleaning in place due to COVID-19 and there's the option to reserve the entire room for a private experience.
Saint Louis Zoo
The St. Louis Zoo is open for business. Reservations are required. The Zoo is planning its Wild Lights event this year. The light show experience runs Nov 27 - Jan 2 and requires reservations.
Top Notch Axe Throwing
Top Notch Axe Throwing is the #1 axe throwing business in the St. Louis area. There are three BYOB axe throwing locations in the area including, St. Charles, Ballwin, and they are the only axe throwing venue in downtown St. Louis. Mastermind Room Escape is in the same building as Top Notch's downtown location.
Gateway National Park
The Gateway National Park is open and the tram is running with a limited schedule. Walking around the park is fun any time of year. Plus, the park staff are very knowledgeable about the park and always happy to help explorers.
City Garden
The St. Louis City Garden is open for business with recently added art installations to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. Previous Christmas light displays have been spectacular and we can't wait to see what they do this year.
St. Charles Main Street Walking Tour
The St. Charles Main Street Walking Tour is a self-guided tour in the downtown area. This tour is especially lovely at Christmas time because the street and shops are decorated. Don't forget to download the map here.

This isn't a list of everything open. It is a list of some of our favorite places to check out on a regular basis and as part of our Christmas routine with family and friends. Additionally, most restaurants are taking take-out orders.
